The Mercury 400XXXL Verado V10 is a high-performance four-stroke outboard motor, featuring the industry’s first naturally aspirated V10 powerhead, designed for large offshore boats, center consoles, multi-hulls, and heavy vessels. Introduced in 2022, this 400 HP motor with a 35-inch ultra-long shaft delivers exceptional power and efficiency with a 5.7L (349 cubic inch) displacement and a maximum RPM range of 5800-6400. It includes Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS) for smooth, instantaneous control, electric start, and power trim/tilt. The Advanced MidSection (AMS) and under-cowl noise management minimize vibration and noise, making it 45% quieter than competitors at cruising speed. A 150-amp alternator, the highest in its class, provides four times the output of competitors at cruise, supporting heavy electronics loads. The hydrodynamic gearcase with a large-diameter Revolution X™ propeller enhances high-speed efficiency and low-speed handling. Advanced Sound Control allows toggling between a quiet exhaust or a sportier tone. Built for durability, it uses advanced alloys, corrosion-resistant coatings, and a freshwater flush system for saltwater reliability. Calibrated for 87-octane fuel with Advanced Range Optimization (ARO), it offers superior fuel economy for long-distance runs.
